A Buyers Guide | The eve of Royal Ascot
Owning a racehorse
Horse racing is a passion. It captivates the imagination of millions of people across the world and you can be right in the heart of it by becoming a racehorse owner. From the thrill of bidding on your chosen Lot at the London Sale, to a morning on the gallops with your trainer, the build up to a race, to watching your horse compete on the world stage with your friends and family. There is really nothing like it.
Have you ever dreamt of seeing your own horse run in your silks on the greatest stage in international racing?
Goffs London Sale offers prospective owners the unique opportunity to go straight in at the top. Many of the horses will be sold with race entries at Royal Ascot, meaning that you could go from the Goffs auction ring to the winners’ enclosure in a matter of days.
The sale also features top-class breeding stock and horses in training for the international market.
“It’s a fantastic concept by Goffs – the idea that you can buy a horse tonight and go to Royal Ascot and have it race for you!”
The British Horseracing Authority will work with the new owners of any horse purchased with a Royal Ascot engagement to process the change of ownership in time for the horse to race in the new owner’s colours.
In preparation for this, anybody wishing to purchase a horse with an entry for Royal Ascot must already be registered as an owner with the BHA in order for the horse to run in their name. If the owner is registered with another recognised Racing Authority this must be verified in advance of the sale.
Full details of transfer arrangements is available here, or you can contact Weatherbys Ownership Desk (+44 1933 440077) in advance.
